Why Refurbishment?


The trial period is a legal right. It often entails considerable depreciation in value. By returning products that have barely been used or opened to new condition, these products can be resold. This way, by making a small investment in the product, you retain (almost) the full value of the product and the product does not have to go to a buyer for a small amount.


In addition, you contribute to increasing the lifespan of the item and are therefore also environmentally conscious! Because the item lasts longer, the amount of unnecessary e-waste is reduced and you do your part to improve the world. Well done!


There are also other legal obligations. Think of the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG/GDPR). Service Planet ensures certainty by recording a professional cleanup with a report per device. The item is also tested and visually inspected, cleaned and repackaged.

What is being done?

The following explains in detail the work involved in refurbishing a product.

Receival of the product

Upon receipt of the product, it is thoroughly checked and recorded. 

We do this by using an application to perform a fixed set of steps where we check and record the following elements:

Hardware test

For the various product groups, we perform a comprehensive professional hardware test. We do this to identify the health of the hardware as best we can. In order to refurbish the product there must be no hardware defect.

Data destruction

Because we assume that the products returned for Refurbishment have once been briefly used by a user. We perform a professional Data Wipe on all products as standard. From GDPR legislation it is mandatory to ensure that no remnants of other people's data is transferred to another user without permission.

Re-installation

To ensure that the product goes back to the state as it should have come from the factory, we perform a reinstallation on the device. This restores the ''factory image''. This means that when the product is turned on, it boots into the first configuration steps of the operating system.

This also gives the customer the experience of using the product for the first time!

Cleaning the product

Product cleaning is taken very seriously at Service Planet. The product is cleaned professionally. In a special way, the product is safely cleaned from the outside. 

Before the product is provided with a new seal, the product is made as dust-free as possible. We cannot give a 100% dust-free guarantee. Dust is virtually unavoidable due to a combination of factors and natural processes. So it is always possible that some dust particles can be found after the product has been fully sealed. Of course, this is kept to a minimum and in most cases will not be an issue.

Placing screencovers

To make products as close as possible to the original. Are available for most products the special screen covers. These screen covers fully match the dimensions of the screen and in cases of Apple, for example, will include the special texts and icons.

Material

The material of a screen cover is static. This means that it will not leave an adhesive residue on the screen. Removing our screen covers is also characterized by many as ''Satisfying.''......

By plasticizing products and thus packaging the main product, we ensure that after all the above work, the product remains protected and clean. We use professional quality sealing which ensures that it does not tear easily and is neatly cut to the size of the product.

Besides the main product, we also pack accessories. This way we make sure they stay clean and complete.

Replacing packages (level 2)

If the original packaging is delivered in such poor condition that it cannot be restored to new condition. Is there alternative packaging available. Alternative packaging is not available for all product groups.

Apple Smartwatch

Because the packaging of a smartwatch is damaged so much when unpacked by the consumer, it is necessary to replace the packaging of the Apple Smartwatch in all cases. This packaging is a 1-to-1 replica of the original.

When creating a refurbishment order it is not possible to indicate in advance what level of refurbishment is desirable. After examination Service Planet will independently determine which level of refurbishment should be applied to arrive at a product in saleable new condition.
